"Jamie and Behave Your Best are absolutely amazing! We had the pleasure of working with Jamie at our previous daycare and it was all about great insights of how to best communicate with our child to teach him new skills and how to correct in a positive way that he would actually understand! I learned so much as a parent! Jamie also created customized lesson plans for teachers to help coach them. I think it’s always great to be proactive versus reactive and any parent can benefit from good insights. Literally, there is something with these programs for everyone and we have all learned so much from Jamie!"

Jamie founded Behave Your Best in 2011 when she realized that her experience in behavior analysis enabled her to parent with skills not every parent had access to. While attending music classes with her young son, she compassionately watched as one parent’s well-meaning reaction to her son’s refusal to participate in music class escalated the situation to him screaming, throwing instruments, and hitting her.

Parents at the playground confessed that they dreaded coming to the park because it was such a battle to get their child to leave.

She recalls watching a well-meaning mother attempt to give her child a time out next to a clothing rack at a store when he was speaking disrespectfully to her, complaining because she wouldn’t buy him something. As she walked away from the clothing rack, he took every single shirt off of the rack and threw it on the floor. She returned, shouting at him, taking him by the arm, and leaving the store. She wanted to hug the mother, tell her she was a great parent, and show her an easier, more enjoyable way to handle their child’s behavior.

As much as she wanted to help, she was also aware that when a parent’s “light switch” is off, they aren’t in a position to receive support, especially from a stranger. She realized that she was in a unique position to serve other families. Behave Your Best was born out of these experiences and the desire to give parents the confidence they need to create the peaceful home that they deserve. Jamie believes that with the right tools, all parents can enjoy their child’s behavior!
